#EntrepreneurCorner: Delegating for success

accreditation

Cape Town - Business coach Anton Ressel unpacked delegation as an important element in taking your business forward in this week's talk.

He said that failure to make delegation a priority may cause your business to stagnate.

Ressel said even though business owners may be better and faster at doing certain tasks themselves, this is not a viable strategy in the long-term. "The result is that you end up creating a glass ceiling, where the business can't grow beyond your capacity," Ressel warned.

According to Ressel, the main reason entrepreneurs do not delegate may not be time pressures, but a lack of setting priorities.

"If you don't have enough hours in a day to do certain things, it just means those things are not going to get done unless you start learning how to delegate, and do it in a way that looks at the future," Ressel said.

The downside of not delegating is that you miss the opportunity to empower your employees so they can learn to do the tasks faster and better next time.
