Labour Q&A with Terry Bell
Fin24 user Mark dB says he is a skilled male with no links to any union, but do pay bargaining council fees.
He also says he had no intentions of striking, "yet when the (Numsa) strikes started we were told to stay home till further notice".
His question: What can I do about wage losses as we were told no work, no pay?
Terry Bell responds:
Hi Mark,
It depends on who told you to stay home. If it was the company, they have, as I see it, no right to deduct your pay.
There are many instances - including Amcu members during the recent platinum belt strike - who were not on strike, but unable to work. They were paid.
Hope that helps!
