A Durban businessman is alleged to be the source of an R800 000 payoff to one of the five men accused of killing Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and his friend, businessman Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane, according to the police.
On Wednesday, the five appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court where the State is opposing their release on bail.
In an affidavit by the detective investigating the murders, Warrant Officer Kumarasan Pillay, alleged R803 000 was transferred by Durban businessman Sydney Mfunda Gcaba.
