I have just been retrenched and used most of my package to pay off mine and my partner's debt.
So, at the moment he is debt free and I have a consolidation loan of over R100 000 left. Our plan is to make arrangements to pay this one loan off once I get another job.
The package I received was just not enough to pay off the loan. I approached a debt counsellor/sequestrator who advised that I declare financial sequestration to get rid of this loan.
I since realised that his promises would jeopardise my financial freedom more than I anticipated.
Getting rid of your debt is the best thing one can accomplish.
Now we are getting offers for all sorts of credit everywhere.
Creditors should also be penalised for swaying people into debt.
