Johannesburg - MSA Africa is celebrating Women's Month and the increasingly important role that women play in local industries, by selling its specially designed ladies' personal protective equipment (PPE) at a discounted rate during August.
This is in addition to donating a portion of its sales to breast cancer awareness initiatives.
The company's range of PPE provides for smaller head sizes too. This is especially important for women in industry, as they have often in the past found themselves in the perilous position of wearing dangerously loose hard hats designed for men, according to Loren Pearson, a senior product manager.
Recent studies show more than 2.6 million women in South Africa require some form of PPE as part of their work requirement.
This number is continuously increasing and there is tremendous potential for growth in industries that include agriculture, mining, manufacturing, utilities and construction.
The push for female specific PPE is also becoming increasingly relevant, as the department of mineral resources and the department of labour recently agreed to implement new legislation surrounding the issuing of purpose designed PPE for women in industrial operations.
