Chivas Regal, the world’s first luxury whisky, has selected the South African Top 5 for The Venture IV, a global social entrepreneur competition to find and support promising entrepreneurs from across the globe who want to Win the Right Way, by changing the world for the better.
The South African finalists stand a chance to represent the country in the international version of the Venture, and win their share of $1 million.
“We were blown away by the volume and quality of the applications we received, which made choosing the top five not easy,” says Shelley Reeves, marketing manager at Chivas Regal South Africa. “These are all business-savvy entrepreneurs who have a real heart for the communities in which they are working. I’m confident that whoever wins will do us proud in the international leg of the competition.”
Introducing Hands of Honour:
My name is Paul Talliard.
In 1984 I was fortunate enough to become one of the first Fireman of colour. Unfortunately, after 12 twelve years, I was introduced to crack cocaine and consequently lost my job, home and family. I would spend the next decade as a transient drug addict ,until seven years ago, when I entered a local soup kitchen as a 50 kilogram drug addict and formed Hands of Honour. Since then ,we have been producing award winning Early learning tools and furniture that will help transform the millions of children in Africa who do not have access to any Early Childhood Development programs into the next generation of leaders, problem solvers and critical thinkers. Furthermore, dozens of men have come through our up-cycling program and went on to live lives with purpose and a vision.
