Former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng has been thrown into the spotlight amid a series of controversial comments around his role at the company.

Motsoeneng has said that he intends to reapply for his post as COO, despite a series of critical court judgments regarding his appointment.

The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) last year ruled that Motsoeneng’s appointment was irrational and unlawful.

The SCA recently also dismissed Motsoeneng’s application for leave to appeal the decision.

But despite these rulings, the SABC reappointed Motsoeneng in the senior executive position of general executive of corporate affairs.

Jackson Mthembu, the ANC’s chief whip said in parliament: “The reappointment of Motsoeneng is nothing more than disrespect for the Supreme Court of Appeal’s ruling.”

Meanwhile, Cabinet has also criticised the reappointment of Motsoeneng while opposition party the DA took to the streets on Monday to protest against the SABC.

Question marks now exist over whether Motsoeneng will stay at the SABC or be forced to leave. Watch the video above which is a quirky take on Hlaudi's recent controversial comments in the public space.
