Johannesburg - Standard Bank’s latest smartphone app now enables customers to make international payments to recipients in 200 countries, the company has said.
The bank, in a statement on Monday, said this functionality is now available for Apple and Android users of the app.
Users of the app can make international payments within the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) regulated allowance of R1m per annum.
“This updated functionality represents the ultimate in flexibility and convenience by providing customers in any region, who would previously have had to visit a branch and complete vast amounts of paperwork, with instant access to, and absolute control over, their entire financial portfolio,” said Vuyo Mpako, head of digital channels and e-commerce at Standard Bank.
The latest release of the Standard Bank app also includes other features such as the ability for customers to adjust their daily and monthly ATM limits.
Another update includes built-in architectural changes which will help roll out the app into various other regions.
Other countries slated for release of the updated app include Botswana, Namibia, Ghana, and Uganda.
“The global expansion of our smartphone app together with the updated functionality is the latest in the digital transformation of the Bank and reflects our vision of becoming a truly universal bank, said Mpako.
