Cape Town - Johannesburg gated-community Kyalami Estates is the latest suburb to be connected to fibre broadband.
Infrastructure player Metrofibre Networks announced on Thursday that it has been contracted to provide high-speed broadband access to the suburb of 1 100 homes.
“We are delighted that the residents of Kyalami Estates and its home owners' association elected to partner with us for their fibre needs,” said Jacques de Villiers, business development manager of Metrofibre Networx.
The project is slated to break ground at the end of February at a cost of R13m.

The Kyalami Estates deal gives Metrofibre a strong position in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg as it already covers Barbeque Downs, Lonehill, Beaulieu, Heathcliff and Blue Hills estates, Glenferness, as well as parts of Paulshof, Sandton and Rivonia.
A number of companies are racing to provide higher speed fibre broadband access in South Africa over open access networks.
Residents can register their interest in the network on the website.
