Johannesburg - The public protector website has crashed ahead of the pending release of the much-awaited state capture report.
The crash happened shortly after the North Gauteng High Court ordered the public protector to release the report by 17:00. President Jacob Zuma earlier on Wednesday also dropped his request to halt the publication of the report.
The applications to intervene on Zuma's application to interdict the release of the state capture report by opposition parties were also granted.
Meanwhile, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Des Van Rooyen's urgent application to have former public protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela's report interdicted was also struck down.
The public protector on Twitter did not acknowledge the downtime of the site by tweeting: "Public Protector website is http://www.publicprotector.org not http://www.pprotect.org We will make an announcement once the report is live."
Meanwhile, Twitter was abuzz with memes from local users making light of the downtime of the website.
