Johannesburg - A Cape Town start-up has received a significant international revenue boost to grow its cleaning service business, as well as backing from DJ superstar Black Coffee.
SweepSouth is an online platform which aims to make it easy to book, manage and pay for home cleaning services by using a laptop, phone or tablet; it also connects clients with efficient and reliable cleaners.

The company recently received a major cash injection for an undisclosed amount from Smollan, a South African-based international retail solutions company, as well as from DraperDarkFlow, a Silicon Valley venture capital fund for Africa established by Tim Draper.
DJ Black Coffee, also known as Nkosinathi Maphumulo, is backing the company as a private investor.
The new investments into the company are expected to aid its expansion across the African continent.

SweepSouth’s last funding round, announced in early 2016, allowed it to expand into Durban and Pretoria and launch its native mobile app, through which it grew sixfold.
The start-up employs 3000 cleaners across the country and plans to boost the number to 10000 in the next 12 months.
“We’re particularly excited about the strategic nature of our partnerships with our new incoming investors. Smollan’s reach - it operates in 36 international markets - will provide the perfect avenue to rapidly expand internationally,” Pandor said.
