Icasa transfers On Digital Media licence

Cape Town – The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) has completed the transfer of an Individual Electronic Communications Network Services licence from On Digital Media to StarTimes.

The regulator confirmed on Monday that the transfer met all requirements with the application being published for comment on August 6.

“Icasa believes that the decision is in the public interest and will promote competition, investment and consumer choice in the broadcasting sector,” Icasa said in a statement.

On Digital Media rebranded TopTV as StarSat after the former entity entered business rescue to avoid bankruptcy.
