Cape Town – Search giant Google on Wednesday announced that it has launched its 'Concierge' music option in South Africa.
Following the launch of Google Play Music locally, the internet company has now switched on its Concierge service which curates music for subscribers.
“If you’re a Google Play Music subscriber, next time you open the app you’ll be prompted to play music for a time of day, mood or activity,” Google said in a statement.

The company said that it employed DJs, musicians and music critics to curate songs from its database of 35 million tracks.
Rival Apple recently launched its Apple service in SA for R89.99 per month.
Chief executive Tim Cook said in 2015 that Apple Music had 6.5 million paid subscribers in addition to 15 million users.
Google’s Play Music was introduced at R49.99 per month, discounted from the R59.99 regular price.
International music streaming service Spotify is estimated to have around 30 million subscribers, valuing the company at $8.5bn.
Local music streaming services such as Deezer, Simfy and MTN Music+ are aimed at a market sensitive to price and data costs.
