UPDATE: FNB restores all services after glitch

FNB chief information officer, Mo Hassem: "FNB can confirm that connectivity has been restored across all banking channels and FNB Connect. We once again apologise to our customers for the inconvenience experienced today."

FNB told Fin24 that their services had been down but did not disclose which services exactly. 

On Facebook, numerous customer complaints on Tuesday ranged from mobile banking being offline to no network service on FNB Connect which runs atop the Cell C network. 

However, in a statement, FNB said that they had restored functionality to some ATMs across the country.

FNB ‘s chief information officer Mo Hassem said: “FNB can now confirm that there's functionality on ATMs, Point of Sale terminals, with limited functionality currently on online banking.”

“Our technicians continue to work hard to restore connectivity across all channels. We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused,” he went further to say. 

On Facebook, users lambasted the bank after a post on their page which read: “We apologise to any customers affected by intermittent system issues - we're working hard to resolve it.”

One user said: “This is absurd. Our business is severely affected.”

Another user posted: “I'm really hoping the issue with FNB Connect is a once off otherwise I'll take my chances with Vodacom again... The "Cheaper option" only goes THAT far...”

While another user said: “Your app's down, so is online banking, and the 087- contact number! Really now, unbelievable!!”

The post drew scores of comments shares and reactions, while FNB faced similar criticism on Twitter. 

“Looks like FNB's credit card OTP system is also down... trying to buy something from Takealot but I can't, thanks FNB...,” one user tweeted. 

Another user tweeted: “I can't make calls or send WhatsApp messages. Even checking balance on FNB Connect is impossible. It's been the entire morning.”
