Johannesburg - With just hours left until South Africa's ruling party has a new leader, social networks have become a stand-up comedy platform poking fun at the ANC's 54th elective conference.
Users across Facebook, Twitter and other social networks are making fun through memes and reactions of some delegates attending the conference at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.
The election of the next president of the ANC has so far been a two-horse race between current Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, former chair of the African Union Commission and ex-wife of President Jacob Zuma.
Users poked fun at the president's announcement on free higher education, anticipated reactions to the rand on the outcome of who wins and commented on the food they believe delegates will be served at Nasrec.
Users also highlighted Zuma’s swansong promise of free education for students from households which earn less than R350 000 per annum, asking where the money would come from.
