Seoul - South Korean electronics giant Samsung is to build a production plant in Vietnam for around $560m, the company said Thursday.
The plant will mainly produce televisions, but also air conditioning units and washing machines, a spokesperson said in Seoul.
The compound is to be built in a high-tech industrial park in Ho Chi Minh City, with construction to begin in 2015.
Samsung is the world's largest maker of smartphones, televisions and computer memory chips.
"We look forward to expanding our manufacturing capacity in Vietnam, as consumer demand for our products continues to grow across the world," said Samsung, which already operates two smartphone factories in Vietnam.
