Cape Town - City Power Johannesburg has moved to do damage control after a tweet exposed a social media backlash.
In trying to direct residents to the latest load shedding schedule, the organisation posted a link on Twitter to a document titled, "nigga.pdf".
The tweet was hastily deleted and the organisation submitted this apology on the social network.
City Power would like to express its profound regret at the post which was twitted earlier, titled in a less than diplomatic manner.

The document has been renamed to a more politically correct "PDF Stage 2 from 6.pdf".
There was condemnation on Twitter because of the faux pas.
Looking forward to receiving @CityPowerJhb's nomlungu.pdf load shedding schedule later today.

I wouldn't like to be the social media manager or twitter operator for @CityPowerJhb or @Eskom_SA right now.

National energy provider Eskom has indicated that electricity supply will continue to be under strain until new power stations Medupi and Kusile come online.
The power stations have experienced major delays in construction, prompting the former Minister of Public Enterprises Malusi Gigaba to investigate.
