Instant messaging service WhatsApp is nearing the one billion user mark, according to its owner social networking giant Facebook.
Facebook on Wednesday released its latest quarterly report whic revealed that the company has recorded a profit of $1.56bn in the final three months of 2015 compared to $701 million in the same period a year earlier.

Facebook bought WhatsApp for $19bn in 2014 and the company, in its quarterly update, has given the latest user numbers on WhatsApp.
In January last year, Facebook revaled that WhatsApp usage had hit 700m users worldwide, meaning that the service has increased its reach by 200m users as it now stands at 900m users.
