Social networking giant Facebook has announced that it has 16 million monthly users in Nigeria, making it among its biggest markets in Africa.

The 16 million users in Nigeria form part of Facebook's 1.6 billion users worldwide.

Facebook has also recently announced that it has hit the one billion user mark on WhatsApp. Facebook bought WhatsApp in 2014 for $19bn.
