Cape Town - New mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) me&you mobile is offering contract customers being offloaded by Autopage a "new home".
As Autopage customers face the prospect of the company being wound up, the MVNO is offering a 10% discount on new signups.
"Customers that may have recently been made aware that their current service provider is looking to sell them back to the networks, are going to perhaps be looking for a new home. We feel that these customers will find value in our product offering and that they also represent the target market we are focusing on," me&you mobile CEO Brett Howell told Fin24.
While the promotional offer is valid for June, Howell insisted that as long as customers stay with me&you, they will be eligible for the discount.
"The promotional offer will run for the month of June (available to buy), but like our R300 Unlimited Deal, those that sign up during this period will continue to receive the 10% discount for as long as they are a customer of me&you mobile."
Industry disruption
He added that mobile customers who have signed up to me&you have expressed value in the offering which roams on the Cell C network.
"We feel our products offer the best value for money in the market and that is why we have already had such a good response from customers in taking up our packages. In respect of this campaign, we just wanted to draw the attention of customers who may have found themselves in no-man’s land after the recent announcements."
The company offers voice call rates as low as 39c per minute and targets a mainly urban and online market.
Howell said that the company was driving an aggressive strategy to disrupt the South African mobile industry.
"Over and above our drive for everyday acquisition across our portfolio, we are constantly on the lookout for those niche opportunities where we, as an MVNO, are able to design solutions quickly and take them to market to capitalise now."
