Johannesburg - Local mobile network MTN has moved to adjust pricing of some of its voice and data packages upwards as of August 1.
The upward price adjustments will impact the following post-paid services from Monday, according to MTN:
- Voice rates on My MTNChoice Flexi plans,
- Carry over rules on My MTNChoice Minute plans, My MTNChoice Flexi plans and MTN Anytime plans.
MTN's price hikes come hot on the heels of Telkom dramatically lowering its mobile contract prices late last month.
But despite market pressures, MTN has said that it has “continued to provide customers with with value” in light of its price hikes.

MTN further said that subscriptions for all post-paid plans will remain unchanged, and that it had given customers sufficient warning about the price hikes affecting its selected voice and data packages.
