Johannesburg – Microsoft on Thursday launched two new mobile devices to target both the value and high end sectors of the market.
The Nokia Lumia 630 and 930 were launched at an event in Johannesburg.
The 630 is based on the value of the Lumia 520.
“The 520 is our most successful device, the most successful device of its kind in that price point,” said Patrick Henchie, head of product for Microsoft Mobile Devices.
Henchie was visibly excited as he introduced the new Lumia 930 flagship, based on the 925.
The smartphone features a 2.2 GHZ quad core processor, 20 megapixel camera, and 2GB of RAM. The device is also encased in aluminium.
There is tighter integration with social networks and cloud services in both devices which run the latest version of the operating system, Windows 8.1.
The Lumia 630 is priced at R1 999 and pricing and availability for the 930 is vague. Henchie could only say that the flagship device will be available by the end of September.
