Johannesburg - Xiaomi’s NineBot hover board is on a ship from China ready to reach South Africa shores in December. Meanwhile locals may wait a little longer for the latest smartphones the Mi Mix and Mi Note 2.
All these new devices from the Chinsese phone-maker are expected to reach the country soon.
However with the high cost of import duties, fans wanting to purchase either device can expect to fork out the same price they would for an iPhone 7.
Xiaomi were well known for bringing devices with premium features at low prices, into the country. But the manufacturer’s next wave of devices may spell the end for the trend.
Xiaomi’s Ninebot is the remake of the mini Segway – controlled by the users, forward, backward and side-to-side movements – while maintaining their balance.
The Ninebot is expected to be available after Christmas with a price tag of between R10 000 and R15 000.

Recently, the Chinese electronics manufacturer launched its phablet Mi Note 2 which is believed to be the answer to the now killed Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
At the same launch event the company also announced their concept smartphone, a borderless Mi Mix device with a display that covers over 91.3% of its face.

The device features a massive 6.4 inch screen while the facing 5-megapixel camera for the first time will feature at the bottom of the device.
The earpiece is completely invisible and works through a piezoelectric ceramic speaker and the proximity sensor is also in the screen, which is commonly an infrared sensor used to turn off the device when From the outside. The Mi Note 2 features a 3D glass curved front and back panel, much like the Note 7.
The Mi Note 2 features a 5.7 inch screen and comes in a 64 gigabyte version with 4 gigabytes of RAM and a 128 gigabyte model with 6 gigabytes of RAM.

Prior to the launch of the two larger format devices, Xiaomi announced their flagship device the Mi 5S along with the dual camera Mi 5S Plus.
Similar to the Huawei P9’s dual camera, Xiaomi’s Mi 5S Plus features two cameras, one of which is a monochrome for capturing black and white photos and enhancing detail in colour images.
The two new devices from Xiaomi trump almost all specifications of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, expect the selfie camera.
While the processor in the Android devices - Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 - is the best chipset available for Android, it is still debatable when compared to Apple’s new A10 Fusion.
