Johannesburg - Sony's extravagant new offering the Xperia XZ Premium is heading for South African shores in July.
But MTN customers can jump the queue if they desperately desire the over the top features the phone promises.
When Sony called the phone Premium, it wasn't lying. It's more expensive and more feature-rich than its competitors.
First launched at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year, the phone was voted the Best New Smartphone at the event.
Sporting a 4K resolution - one of the highest to be found - it beats Apple and Samsung hands down. Its 19 megapixel camera dwarves the 12-megapixel sensor on Samsung's best. The phone also possesses the world’s first super slow motion video in a smartphone.
The 960 frames per second capture can be played back four times slower than any other smartphone, but still maintaining ensuring crystal clarity when videos are slowed down.
Apart from the unique camera and high resolution, the phone also boasts voice commands messaging technology, unique calendar features to check your schedule, and search functionality and navigation without touching the device.
The Sony, however will be one of South Africa's most expensive phones, pricing even higher than the iPhone 7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S8+.
MTN is sweetening the pot, offering the first 100 customers, who pre-order the phone and are successfully credit vetted, a FREE Xperia Ear personal assistant valued at R 2 499.
