Johannesburg - Samsung South Africa has announced that the new Galaxy Note 7 will now be available from September 23, later than originally planned.
The highly anticipated 'phablet' smartphone was launched in the country a fortnight ago, boasting a major upgrades and newer features when compared to its predecessor.
It was previously reported that the device would be available from September 9, but the company issued a statement on Monday confirming the new availability date.
“The overwhelming global demand for the new and improved Galaxy Note7 resulted in a flood of orders. Appropriation of the initial consignment has required us to relook the local availability date of the smartphone to ensure fulfilment of all early orders,” said Craige Fleischer, integrated mobility director at Samsung South Africa.

Pre-orders for the device will commence on September 9 and will be bundled with an additional accessory kit including a wireless charger, screen protector and cover.
“We are very excited about the huge consumer demand and attribute it to the Note7’s unparalleled features. It confirms our position in defying barriers, always pushing the frontier of what’s possible,” Fleischer said.
The Note 7 features a 5,7 inch display, new iris scanner, more powerful processor and bigger battery than previous models.
