iStore launches iPhone SE trade-in deal

Cape Town – Apple fans who upgrade to the latest iPhone stand to get up to R8 000 cash back on their old devices, the iStore announced on Wednesday.

Apple launched the smaller screen iPhone SE in SA recently and the local distributor said that it was extending its trade-in offer to the new device.

“iStore will also allow for two devices to be traded in towards the upgrade of a new iPhone, helping customers to get even more back when they upgrade. Customers can also trade in an iPad or Samsung Galaxy phone when they upgrade to a new iPhone,” the iStore said in a statement.

iPhone 6 - R5 500
iPhone 5s - R3 300

Customers who want to upgrade to the smaller new iPhone have to register on the website and obtain a voucher which is valid for three months.

“Customers can take out a new cellular contract or upgrade their current contract on any cellular network (Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and Telkom Mobile), purchase an iPhone SE funded over 24 months via iStore Card, or purchase a new iPhone for cash,” the iStore said.

International Data Corporation data showed that in SA, Samsung is the leading smartphone brand with 53% market share, though Apple grew 50% in the last three months of 2015 because of the brand’s high Average Sales Price (ASP) of $852 (R13 203).
