Johannesburg - Chinese electronics manufacturer Huawei has introduced a mid-level smartphone to South Africa ahead of the launch of its new flagship device at the Mobile World Congress in just a few weeks.
Huawei South Africa launched the new Huawei P smart which features a full view display and a dual camera setup.
The device features a metallic body and will be available in black and gold with a FullView display for a more immersive display.
The camera is able to provide advanced bokeh effects and other photography functions, such as the beauty camera and gesture shot.
“Our new P smart brings you flagship features at an affordable price. It’s the first time the industry will see both a dual camera and FullView display at this price range and we are excited to introduce this to the South African market,” said Likun Zhao, general manager of Huawei’s Consumer Business.
The P smart hides three antennas in the upper and lower parts of the metallic body to avoid the three-section design’s impact on body.
The dual camera features a 13 megapixel and 2 megapixel and also includes the new EMUI 8.0 operating system based on Android 8.0.
Huawei P smart Series is has a fingerprint recognition that Huawei boast can unlock a device within 0.3 seconds.
The device features a 3000-mAh battery which is as large as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and bigger than the iPhone 8’s.
The Huawei P smart currently is available for purchase at all operators in South Africa at a recommended retail price of R 3 999.
The launch comes just weeks ahead of global smartphone conference, Mobile World Congress, held annually in Barcelona, Spain.
At the event Huawei is expected to launch its latest premium flagship smartphone following on the P10 launched at the event last year.
The device will be launched alongside devices major smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung, Nokia, Sony and others.
