Johannesburg - Chinese electronics manufacturer Hisense is bringing one of the most durable smartphones ever made, the C30 Rock, to South Africa.
The device was launched in the local market at a recent event in Johannesburg, where a short demonstration was given of its capabilities.
When holding the device, the C30 Rock's rugged design is immediately apparent. It has a resilient metal frame and a soft rubber outer casing to increase durability.
The device features an IK04 level shock resistance rating as well as an IP68 certified rating, making it dust and water resistant - it can be submerged to a depth of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes.
The C30 Rock also features a 5.2 inch full HD display that offers 424 pixels per inch, run by a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 64-bit processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage.
The device has an Android 7 Nougat operating system with a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing wide angle camera, and a 3000mAh battery alongside quick-charge functionality.
The C30 Rock was announced at the recent Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and is the first new device to enter the country since the event.
Locally, the C30 Rock is available at retailers as well as selected online retailers. It sells for a recommended retail price of R4 499.
