Cape Town – Asus has launched its next generation tablet hybrid device in SA.
The new Transformer Book T100HA features a 12 hour battery life and is “thinner and lighter” than the previous version, Asus said.
It weighs in at 580g and at 8.45mm is around 20% thinner than its predecessor.
Unlike the previous version of the device with a 25.5cm (10 inch) display, the new hybrid sports a quad core Atom processor mated to 2GB of RAM.

It sells in 32GB and 64GB SSD flavours and Asus says that they have made improvements to the hinge to ensure secure connections.
“The hinge is tested for more than 20 000 cycles for the swing test and 25 000 cycles for the open/close. Unlike competing solutions, T100HA with auto-positioning technology needs little effort to detach the dock. Without auto-positioning, docking can be awkward and inaccurate,” the company said.
Asus is also aiming for a more discerning market by encasing the device in metal and the company said that its BoostMaster technology can top up the battery with 90 minutes of use in 15 minutes.
Ports are similar to the previous Transformer but Asus has added an additional USB port on the Pad.
Data from Gartner and the International Data Corporation indicated healthy growth of hybrid devices in 2015, predicted to reach over 200 million units globally.
The recommended retail price for the Transformer Book T100HA is R5 299 for the 32GB version and R5 499 for the 64GB device.
