Johannesburg - Apple have announced a new tier of online storage – adding a 2 terabyte option to iCloud – a week before a scheduled announcement of the new iPhone.
The 2 terabyte cloud storage option will see South Africans forking-out R299 per month for the service.
The new tier adds to the existing 50 gigabyte option at R14.99 per month; 200 gigabytes for R44.99 and 1 terabyte for R149.99.
Online rumors suggest the new tier of storage across the globe suggests that the company could possibly release a 256 gigabyte version of the iPhone.
If the rumours are anything to go by, a 256 gigabyte version of the iPhone will set the smartphone a part as one of biggest devices on the market with many top-end smartphones coming fitted with 128 gigabytes of internal storage.
On Monday, an invite was sent to media and guests for the launch event, which is set to take place at the Bill Graham Civic Center in San Francisco at 10am Pacific Time (7pm South African time).
The invite simply stated “See you on the 7th.”
