Cape Town - Sagarmatha Technologies announced on Wednesday that it will make an investment of over a R1bn in African News Agency over the next five years.
“We’re very excited about the prospects for African News Agency’s growth in Africa, which aligns with our vision to establish Silicon Africa,” said Paul Lamontagne, group CEO of Sagarmatha.
Lamontagne said African News Agency’s platform enables Sagarmatha to access and invest in technology companies across Africa.
African News Agency will launch a social media community platform in the first half of 2018.
Lamontagne said Sagarmatha’s International Advisory Board (IAB), is placing its focus on technology, to enable hundreds of millions of people living in Africa to embrace the 4th Industrial Revolution.
African News Agency CEO, Grant Fredericks said his objective is clear: “We have a simple and implementable strategy which will be deployed into identified areas in the north, west, east and SADC regions."
