Novus Holdings snaps up digital printing business

Johannesburg - Newly listed printing company Novus Holdings has acquired a Cape Town based specialist digital print business.

Digital Print Solutions is subsequently planned to form part of Novus Holdings' existing print division Paarl Media.

The acquisition of Digital Print Solutions by Novus Holdings - formerly known as Paarl Media Group - comes after Media24 moved to list Novus on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) in March this year.

“In our presentations to investors we identified areas of opportunity for strong growth for Novus Holdings in print and related services, and this is one of them. This acquisition brings digital print experience into Novus Holdings, a wide and diverse range of digital print clients, a strong track record of excellence, and the potential for high growth in the future,” said Novus Holdings chief executive officer, Stephen van der Walt, in a statement.

“The introduction of the digital print division and this acquisition will position the group to take advantage of the global digital trend and strengthen our print services offering. The growth prospects for this division and as a consequence, the group, are important,” said van der Walt.

The joint statement further says that Digital Print Solutions founder Dion Martin will continue to direct the newly-acquired company’s operations.

Meanwhile, Christoff Botha, who is Novus Holdings group executive for heatset operations, will have his portfolio expanded to include the new digital offering, says

Botha said in a statement that Novus is set to recapitalise Digital Print Solutions, restrict costs and “integrate the company by moving its operations into existing Novus Holdings’ premises in Cape Town”.
