Cape Town - Micro-jobbing platform Money for Jam (M4JAM) has acquired digital market research company Pondering Panda as part of a move to expand data gathering tools for businesses.
"Our acquisition of Pondering Panda is an important one because it strengthens our value proposition, we can now provide more than basic insights, we can provide enhanced analytics, from real customers, in real-time," said M4JAM co-founder Andre Hugo.
M4JAM runs a mini-job platform on the WeChat social media platform that allows the firm to match users with location-based jobs, often for large corporations, but also provides data on consumer behaviour.
Pondering Panda conducts digital interviews into consumer behaviour and the tie-up is expected to boost the ability of both firms to gain consumer insights.
"M4JAM and Pondering Panda are together without doubt the go-to place for digital research in Africa. Not only are M4JAM like-minded digital disruptors, but they are taking mobile research beyond simple questionnaires into a whole new world of real-time insights powered by their micro-jobbing platform," said Diane Gantz, CEO of Pondering Panda.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed and both firms will continue to operate under their own brands.
