The real reason why people don't save

Johannesburg - Guess what? The reason why people are not saving is not because they do not have money. Neither is it the high cost of living.

So what is the real reason?

FNB has done some research to uncover the answer... and interestingly found that people across age groups share the same view.

FNB Savings & Investment CEO Lezanne Human told Fin24 that consumers often procrastinate and tell themselves: "It is too early. I can start later. I don't have to worry about it now."

Do these phrases sound familiar?

"The biggest reason not to save should not be that it is early enough," warns Human. "It should be that I absolutely have no money".
