Most of us don't fully understand the environmental impact of our clothes. From their production, to the materials that make them, all the way to transportation and washing, clothes can make quite a dent on the environment.

Cotton, an extremely thirsty plant, requires a lot of water to be produced and maintained. An average pair of jeans takes 6 815 litres or 1 500 gallons of water to make.

There is a lot of water in the world, but 97% of the world’s water is salty, 2% is in ice and water, and that leaves less than 1% and 70% of which is used for crops.

But what is exactly is 6 815 litres?
