Cape Town - South Africa’s Competition Commission has gained more muscle in the past financial year, judged by its 2015/16 annual report, says Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr.
The Commission, for example initiated 133 investigations into cartel behaviour – most notably in the automotive components sector.
“We may see a string of consent orders in the automotive components sector over the next few years, just as we saw settlements in the construction sector over the last few years,” said Lara Granville and Roxanne Bain of Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr in a statement.
