A Fin24 user is puzzled by the VAT charged on e-tolls. He writes:
I have been reading that e-tolls is a tax. Then I saw a Sanral invoice, which included VAT.
That is the same as charging VAT on your rates and legally there is no such thing as a tax on tax.
So, I would assume that an e-toll is not a tax, but a money making business, designed to extract as much money as possible from people, who earn enough to purchase a vehicle.
And if they have their way, they will do it to perpetuity. You would be correct in assuming I am strongly against this. I am also against the vast amount spent on all the equipment and expenses necessary in their process of collection.(Fleecing.)
If they get away with it, then the next step would be to install gantries in all major towns.
Kapsch has discovered that they can get "royalties" from around the world and we are one of the targets.
Despite various requests for a reponse to this query over the past few weeks, Sanral has not responded.
