European stock markets edged downwards in opening trade on Thursday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index 0.2% lower at 7 457.21 points.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index dipped 0.1% to 12 304.53 points, and the Paris CAC 40 also shed 0.1% to 5 569.21 compared with Wednesday's close.
