European stocks gain ground at open

European stock markets advanced in opening deals on Wednesday.

In initial trade, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of major blue-chip companies rose 0.3% to 7 291.87 points.

In the eurozone, the Paris benchmark CAC 40 index added 0.8% to 5 509.41 and Frankfurt's DAX 30 was up 1.0% at 12 028.17 points.
