European stock markets steady at open

London - European stocks held steady at the start of trading on Friday, with London's FTSE 100 index flat at 7 040.17 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 firmed 0.1% to 11 311.66 points and the Paris CAC 40 added 0.2% to 5 016.45, compared with Thursday's close.
