European stock markets steady at open

Europe's main stock markets steadied at the start of trading on Wednesday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index dipping 0.1% to 7 231.69 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 was flat at 11 976.60 points and the Paris CAC 40 was unchanged at 5 318.21, compared with Tuesday's closing levels.
