European stock markets steady at open

London - Europe's major stock markets steadied at the start of trading on Thursday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index down 0.2% at 7 721.67 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 lost 0.1% to 12 985.14 points but the Paris CAC 40 rose 0.1% to 5 570.39, compared with the closing levels on Wednesday.
