European stock markets steady at open

London - Europe's major stock markets steadied at the start of trading on Wednesday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index up 0.1% to 7 728.58 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 gained 0.1% to 12 983.49 points and the Paris CAC 40 fell 0.1% to 5 546.39, compared with the closing levels on Tuesday.
