London - Europe's stock markets mainly rose at the start of trade on Monday, with London boosted by news of a blockbuster merger of rival British-based supermarket giants Sainsbury's and Asda.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of major companies added 0.1% to 7 512.94 points, aided by a 20% surge in Sainsbury's share price.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 won 0.2% to 12 606.27 points, but the Paris CAC 40 nudged 0.1% lower at the opening bell to stand at 5 477.44 compared with Friday's closing level.
