Europe's main stock markets rose at the open on Thursday, extending a slight recovery after a rout at the start of the week caused by Italy's political upheaval.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index climbed 0.2% to 7 701.33 points compared with the close on Wednesday.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 gained 0.1% to 12 796.16 points and the Paris CAC 40 won 0.3% to 5 440.95.
