European stock markets drop at open

Europe's leading stock markets fell further at the open on Tuesday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index shedding 0.5% to 6 738.49 points.

In the eurozone, the Paris CAC 40 slid almost 0.6% to 4 773.19 points and Frankfurt's DAX 30 dropped 0.3% to 10 744.28.
