Shanghai - Chinese shares dropped heavily on Wednesday after rising strongly in recent weeks in a recovery from a rout over the summer.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slumped 104.65 points to 3 320.68 on turnover of 518.5 billion yuan ($81.7bn).
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, plummeted 119.35 points to 1 889.13 on turnover of 653.6 billion yuan.
