Johannesburg – On Friday MTN [JSE:MTN] announced the extension of its cloud services to Cote d’Ivoire.
The introduction of MTN Cloud in Cote d’Ivoire comes on the back of a successful launch of the services in Ghana and Nigeria earlier this year.
MTN plans to launch the MTN Cloud offering in three other markets in the coming months, namely Uganda, Cameroon and South Africa.
MTN Cloud provides business automation tools to enterprises across professional services, micro-finance, health and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sectors.
“Our focus as MTN is to contribute to the development of enterprises and the sustainable growth of economies in the countries where we operate," said Pieter Verkade, MTN Group's chief commercial officer.
"MTN Cloud is integral to our strategy to achieve this, particularly as enterprises are key economic growth drivers in most of our markets.”
The MTN Cloud services are aimed at satisfying the growing appetite of businesses for ICT solutions that are relevant, customised and affordable.
The cloud services approach entails the centralisation of access to services, wherein a third party, in this case MTN, acts as the single point of contact for customers.
“The focus is on convenience, as centralising access to services eases the administrative burden for business, where instead of dealing with multiple service providers, they now deal with one,” said Verkade.
As with the launches in Ghana and Nigeria in April, the introduction of business automation tools in Cote d’Ivoire is part of the first phase of MTN Cloud services designed primarily for SMEs across professional services, and the health and micro-finance sectors.
The second phase of MTN Cloud offerings will cater for major corporates and multinationals.
“The uptake in Ghana and Nigeria has been positive. We are optimistic that MTN Cloud will receive a similar response in Cote d’Ivoire and in the other markets when it’s launched,” said Verkade.
