The best style for a business plan

A Fin24 user wants to know about the different ways of writing a business plan. She writes:

Is there more than one way to write a business plan?

Is it better to include more information or just stick to the point?

Ian Reid, CEO of Platinum Black Consulting, responds:

Many venture capital companies request that you give them a two-page business plan that gives the most important facts of the venture.

This will include product, target market, the opportunity, competitive advantage, management structure and experience, the finance needed, the return on investment and the extent of the business growth.

This will then give them a very good idea of whether there is a real investment for them or not.

The summary business plan will be backed up by a more comprehensive plan with the research and budgets done, but the salient or most important points are what really count.

Have a look at the free Business Plan book for further guidance.
