Cape Town - Technical Systems, a Bellville company which manufactures automated feeding equipment for big poultry and pig farms, was named the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Exporter of the Year for the third time.
This is the first time that a company has won the award three times. They also won the Transnet Port Terminal trophy for the best engineering or manufacturing company for the seventh time in this annual competition which was sponsored by the Export Credit Insurance Company.
“Add to that two awards for Innovation and Design last year and it becomes clear that we are dealing with a very special company,” said Janine Myburgh, president of the chamber.
“In the 27 years of the competition no company has come close to matching this achievement.”
Technical Systems exports its products to more than 50 countries, including China.
The other company to win two awards was Research Unit which designs and makes stylish leather handbags and other leather products. The firm won the Nedbank award for transformation and the chamber’s award for design.
CIT Intermodal, a firm which repairs shipping containers and converts them into offices, bedrooms and other accommodation won the Finex SA award for the best non-manufacturing exporter.
The chamber’s award for innovation went to Environ Skin Care products.
Thokozani Wine and Hospitality was judged the best small exporter and won the Credit Guarantee Award.
The Gerald Wolman award for excellence in doing business in Africa went to Elim Spa Products.
